One of the biggest successes of my Christmas is my marble chocolate-peanut butter cake, and I can guarantee you that if you ever try this cake, you will see how passionately people will eat it.

So far, it’s one of my favorites and I usually bake it in this season since it fits so well. Nothing feels better than the smell of the chocolate and peanut butter in the air, in a beautiful Christmas morning.

(12-14 Slices | 12-14 Fatias)
225 g of all-purpose flour | farinha
220 g of smooth or chunky peanut butter | manteiga de amendoim
220 g of butter at room temperature | manteiga à temperatura ambiente
200 g of white sugar | açúcar
115 g of dark bittersweet chocolate | chocolate
5 Eggs | chocolate
120 ml of semi-skimmed milk | leite meio-gordo

For the Chocolate-Peanut butter glaze | Para a cobertura de manteiga de amendoim:
175 g of semisweet chocolate | chocolate
2 Tablespoons of butter | colheres de sopa de manteiga
2 Tablespoons of peanut butter | colheres de sopa de manteiga de amendoim
1 Tablespoon of water | colher de sopa de água
1 Teaspoon of vanilla essence | colher de sobremesa de essência de baunilha

Melt the chocolate. Mix and beat the butter at room temperature with the sugar and peanut butter – I used smooth peanut butter. Add the eggs, one at a time.
Derreta o chocolate.

Blend together the flour and the baking powder. Add it to the butter mixture and blend it well. Pour half of the mixture to another bowl and stir the chocolate in it.
Misture a farinha e o fermento.

Using a spoon, drop alternate spoonfuls of the chocolate mixture and peanut butter mixture in a tin. Using a knife, create a swirled marble effect.

Bake the cake (180º C) for about 50 to 60 minutes. Leave it to cool down and prepare the glaze.
Leve ao forno (180º C) cerca de 50 a 60 minutos. Deixe arrefecer e prepare a cobertura.

Chop the chocolate in small pieces and combine it with the rest of the ingredients in a small pan. Melt it in a low heat, stirring occasionally until it gets smooth and blended. Let it cool down slightly. When slightly thickened, pour the glaze over the cake.

Time is running short until Christmas Day and I have everything prepared for it. This year I will do some pies – can’t wait for it! -, let’s see how that will turn. Well, if everything goes wrong, I will always have my chocolate-peanut butter cake to save the day.

What about you? Do you have a life-savior recipe for when all goes just wrong? Let me know what you do 😉
